Detaillierte Beschreibung auf Englisch:

Charlie is the ultimate way to do a safari in 2009. It offers a rare chance for roving adventure and true mobility; something that is found less and less these days. And now Charlie comes at a truly affordable cost with our new 5 night/6 day set departure safaris. The camp is managed by a dedicated crew of safari professionals, who pack it up, whisk it off to a new location and set it up ready for your arrival, just in time for a sun downer before dinner. Charlie is lightweight and flexible. It’s the base from which you can head out on amazing walking safaris (where this is available) or explore these remote areas by 4wd vehicle, staying as far away from the crowds as it can keep you.

WHEN DOES CHARLIE OPERATE THE SET DEPARTURES?
15 June to 15 October 2009
22 December 2009 to 17 April 2010
15 June 2010 to 19 October 2010

Everything you need to know about CHARLIE

Nomad’s Wilderness Mobile Camp now offers new affordable 5 night/6 day set departure safaris in Serengeti National Park & the Loliondo private concession area. Charlie operates on set departure dates for 5 night/6 day itineraries using 2 locations (Serengeti National Park and the Loliondo Concession Area) to make up a 3 night 2 night stay (see following pages for more details). It can be booked in 3 different ways:

1) as a shared camp/with shared car, with guests joining a mixed group of guests who have also booked the same dates)
Set departure.

2) as a shared camp but with your own private car and guide (booked at a supplement). Set departure.

3) booked as a private camp/private car for an exclusive group of guests taking the whole camp as a set departure.

Not to confuse you, but you can also book Charlie on a totally exclusive basis and take it wherever you want. This is outside of the set departure itineraries as above. Contact us for more information on this option.

WHAT IS CHARLIE?
Charlie consists of 4 well-equipped walk-in tents, with 2 cot beds and an en-suite bathroom tent at the rear (short-drop toilet and safari style bucket shower with hot/cold water on demand). There is a separate dining tent for meals and a bar
stocking soft drinks, wine and beer only. Due to the very flexible nature of this camp, families can be accommodated in various ways, but triples in one tent have not worked in the past because of restricted space. These safaris are ideal for families, but we do not allow children under the age of 8. Children of 12 and over only can do the walking safaris.

WHY CHARLIE?
Charlie offers all the best of a classic Nomad safari: great locations, fantastic guides, true flexibility and mobility, it’s a genuine safari experience, and now it comes at an affordable cost based on a per person package rate – see overleaf.

Where to find Charlie
2009 – 2010
In the Dry Season (June to October) This 5-night/6 day itinerary covers the best of the central & northern Serengeti with great resident game and of course the migration, and then hops over into northern Loliondo for some great walking and amazing scenery in this Maasai community area. In the Green Season (December to April) This 5-night/6 day itinerary covers the best of the Southern Serengeti with the migration spread across the short grass plains where the new grass is rich in nutrients for the calving season, and then moves to Southern Loliondo just outside the park for the freedom to carry out walking, night drives, cultural activities and to enjoy the diverse topography and scenery. The actual camp sites chosen for this itinerary will depend on the time of year, and the whereabouts of the wildebeest, but a good sample itinerary is as follows (please note that we’ve used the following destinations to demonstrate how Charlie moves, but the actual campsites will be booked closer to the time and dependent on the migration or other game/weather factors).

DRY SEASON ITINERARY
(starting in Serengeti National Park)
Day 1, for example: 15 July 2009 – fly Arusha to Seronera, pick up by NT car and guide.
3 nights Serengeti National Park north of Seronera in the Tagora region (flight Arusha – Seronera); This and towards Lobo is great for cats, as well as loads of plains game. It has big kopjes and rolling parklands. The higher areas give you a fantastic view out over the Serengeti. It’s a great driving location, and there is a good network of game drive tracks taking you into the heart of the area.

Day 4 – pack up camp and head north.
2 nights Ololosokwan – Nomad partners with the Maasai community in this area (the nearby village benefits from our conservation fees. This is a great area for walking, with some beautiful ridge areas to explore and the chance to see some unusual animals such as the mountain reedbuck.

Day 6 – flight Kleins – Arusha (or alternate onward destination).

GREEN SEASON ITINERARY
(starting in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area around Ndutu)
Day 1, for example Tuesday, 22 December 2009 – fly Arusha to Ndutu region, pick up by NT car and guide.
3 nights Ngorongoro Conservation Area around the Ndutu region; The rains bring the vast herds of Wildebeest and Zebra to he short grass plains of the area. The Ndutu woodland provides cover for elephant and predators lazily watch out over the plains for their regular meals of the day.

Day 4 – pack up camp and head north. 2 nights Piaya – Here too, as in the north of Loliondo, Nomad partners with the Maasai community in this area (the nearby village benefits from Nomad’s conservation fees. This is a great area for walking, with some beautiful ridge areas to explore and the chance to see some unusual animals such as the mountain reedbuck.

Day 6 – flight Ndutu – Arusha (or alternate onward destination).
